Product Overview

The Akuvox EC33 is an IP-based lift (elevator) access controller that restricts which floors a visitor or resident can reach, integrating directly with Akuvox intercoms, indoor monitors, and access control readers. Rather than leaving every floor accessible to anyone in the lift, the EC33 ties floor selection to a verified card, fob, or an authorised call from a paired intercom — a core building-security requirement for multi-tenant apartments, offices, and mixed-use developments.

It communicates with other Akuvox devices over HTTP/TCP-IP, drives up to 32 relay outputs standard (64 with an expansion controller), and stores card credentials and event logs locally for fast, reliable access decisions even if the network connection drops. Supplied directly through Total Security Equipment.

How It Fits Into a Building's Access System

The EC33 sits between the building's access control credentials and the lift's own control panel. When a resident or visitor presents a valid Wiegand card/fob, or is granted remote access via a paired Akuvox indoor monitor or intercom, the EC33 triggers the relay output wired to that floor, allowing the lift to travel there. Everything else stays locked out. Multiple EC33 units — or a single unit with an expansion controller — can be used to scale up to buildings with many floors or multiple lift banks.

Key Capabilities

32 Relay Outputs, Expandable to 64

Controls up to 32 floors/relays out of the box, and scales to 64 with an additional expansion controller connected over RS485 — suited to mid-rise and larger buildings.

Wiegand Card Reader Support

Supports Wiegand 26/34-bit card readers, working with common access card and fob credentials already used across a building's access control system.

Local Card & Event Storage

Stores card credentials and access event logs locally, so floor access decisions and audit trails keep working even during a network outage.

Akuvox Intercom Integration

Works with Akuvox indoor monitors and intercoms over HTTP/TCP-IP, so residents can grant a visitor lift access remotely as part of the same call.

PoE or AC Powered

Runs from PoE (IEEE 802.3af) or a standard 100–240V AC supply, at a low ≤10W draw — flexible for different switchboard and cabling setups.

Fire Alarm Input

A dedicated fire alarm input can be wired for emergency lift release or standard lift command handling as part of a building's life-safety integration.

Best For

Multi-Tenant Apartments
Restricts residents and visitors to their own floor, improving building security for owners' corporations and body corporates.
Commercial Office Towers
Controls tenant floor access alongside existing card-based access control.
Mixed-Use Developments
Separates public, retail, and residential floor access within the same building.
Managed & Serviced Buildings
Gives building managers centralised, auditable control over who can reach which floor.

Why Choose the Akuvox EC33

Lift access control is a core part of building security in any multi-storey property, and the EC33 brings it directly into the Akuvox ecosystem — working alongside the intercoms and indoor monitors already covered elsewhere in our range, rather than as a bolt-on third-party system. Local storage keeps access decisions fast and reliable, and the expandable relay architecture means the same platform scales from a small apartment block to a much larger tower. Available from Total Security Equipment.

Buyer Decision Tips

Count Your Floors First: One EC33 handles up to 32 relay outputs; buildings needing more floors or multiple lift banks require an expansion controller (up to 64 total) or additional units — talk to our team about sizing this correctly before ordering.
Confirm Card Storage Needs: Card and event log capacity is an important figure for larger buildings — our team can confirm the exact current specification against your resident/tenant numbers before you order.
Lift Panel Integration: The EC33 integrates via relay wiring into your lift controller — this is typically a licensed electrician/lift technician job, and compatibility with your specific lift system should be confirmed before installation.

Ideal Use Cases

Apartment & Unit Blocks

Limits each resident's lift access to their own floor, and grants visitors floor access only after an approved intercom call.

Corporate Office Towers

Restricts tenant and staff lift access by card, integrated with the building's broader access control system.

New Building Fit-Outs

Specified alongside lift installation for buildings being designed with floor-level access control from the outset.

Security System Upgrades

Adds floor-level restriction to an existing lift that currently allows unrestricted access to every level.

Choosing the Right System

Choose the EC33 if…

  • You need to restrict lift floor access by card or via an Akuvox intercom call.
  • Your building has up to 32 floors per lift bank (or up to 64 with an expansion controller).
  • You're running, or planning, an Akuvox intercom and access control system.

Talk to our team first if…

  • Your building has more floors than one EC33 (or an expanded unit) supports. We can help plan multiple units across lift banks.
  • You're integrating with a non-Akuvox intercom or access control system. Confirm compatibility with our team before ordering.

FAQs

1. How many floors can one EC33 control?

Up to 32 floors (relay outputs) with a single unit, expandable to 64 by connecting an expansion controller over RS485.

2. Does it work with our existing access cards?

It supports Wiegand 26/34-bit card readers, which covers many common access card and fob formats. Confirm your exact card format with our team to be sure.

3. Can residents grant visitors lift access from the intercom?

Yes — the EC33 integrates with Akuvox indoor monitors and intercoms over HTTP/TCP-IP, so a resident can authorise floor access as part of an incoming visitor call.

4. What happens if the network goes down?

Card credentials and access logic are stored locally on the unit, so card-based floor access continues to work even if the network connection is temporarily unavailable.

5. How is it powered?

It can run on PoE (IEEE 802.3af) or a standard 100–240V AC supply, drawing 10W or less.

6. Does installation require a lift technician or electrician?

Yes, wiring the EC33 into a lift's control panel should be carried out by a qualified electrician or lift technician in line with the lift manufacturer's requirements.

7. Where can I buy the Akuvox EC33 in Australia?

It's available directly from Total Security Equipment.
