- Description
Product Overview
Colour night vision usually comes with a catch. To hold colour after dark, most cameras run a white light continuously — which works, but it also means a floodlight burning above your driveway every night, and neighbours who eventually mention it.
The Dahua DH-IPC-HDW3667EM-S-IL-ANZ takes a smarter approach. It carries both infrared and warm white LEDs, and it sits on infrared by default — dark, invisible, unobtrusive. The moment SMD 4.0 confirms an actual person or vehicle in the scene, the warm white light triggers and the footage switches to full colour. When they leave, it goes back to infrared. You get colour evidence at exactly the moment it has value, without lighting up the street for twelve hours a night.
Underneath that sits a properly specified 6MP WizSense camera: 3288 × 1850 resolution, AcuPick AI target search, tripwire and intrusion zones, AI Scene Self-Adaption with 120 dB WDR, a built-in microphone, microSD edge recording to 512 GB, PoE at under 9.5 W, IP67 sealing, and an operating range of −40°C to +60°C. Available with a 2.8 mm or 3.6 mm fixed lens depending on whether you need width or reach.
Key Capabilities
Smart Dual-Light Illumination
Infrared and warm white LEDs, both reaching 30 m, operating independently. The camera holds on infrared through normal low-light conditions and fires the warm white only when a human or vehicle is confirmed — then returns to infrared once they leave. Colour when it counts, darkness the rest of the time.
AcuPick AI Target Search
Events are tagged by target type as they are recorded, so playback can be filtered to "show me every vehicle" rather than scrubbed hour by hour. On a compatible Dahua NVR, finding a specific incident from an overnight period drops from a long afternoon to a few seconds — which is the difference between a system you use and one you avoid.
SMD 4.0 and Perimeter Protection
Deep-learning classification separates humans and vehicles from animals, foliage, shadows and headlight sweep. On top of that, tripwire and intrusion rules let you draw a line across a gate or a zone around a yard — so you are filtering by what moved and where it went, not just that something moved.
6MP Imaging at 3288 × 1850
A 1/2.7″ progressive CMOS at up to 25/30 fps. The practical value of 6MP over 2MP or 4MP is crop headroom — when you zoom into a corner of the frame during review, there is still real image data there rather than a block of pixels.
AI Scene Self-Adaption and 120 dB WDR
AI SSA adjusts camera parameters in real time for backlight, flicker, rain and fog rather than holding a fixed profile. Paired with 120 dB wide dynamic range and 3D noise reduction, it keeps image quality consistent across the changeable conditions that break cheaper cameras — bright doorways, wet roads, low winter sun.
Excellent Low-Light Sensitivity
An F1.4 aperture and sensitive sensor hold colour down to 0.005 lux, dropping to 0.0005 lux in monochrome. That is a wide window before either illuminator is needed at all, so streetlit and dusk conditions stay usable on ambient light alone.
Built-In Microphone
Records ambient audio alongside video, which regularly supplies the context a fixed camera angle leaves out. Microphone only — there is no speaker, so this camera records sound but cannot be used for two-way talkback or audio warning.
512 GB Edge Storage
Double the card capacity of most cameras in this class. Enough for genuine standalone operation on a single-camera site, or as a continuous backup path so footage survives on the camera even if the recorder is stolen or drops offline. FTP and NAS storage are also supported.
IP67, Wide Temperature Range, Low PoE Draw
Fully dust-tight and sealed against water, rated −40°C to +60°C and 95% humidity — comfortably beyond anything an Australian site produces, coastal or inland. Runs on 802.3af PoE at approximately 9.5 W max, or 12 V DC. ONVIF S/G/T/M supported.

Why Choose the DH-IPC-HDW3667EM-S-IL-ANZ
There is a genuine trade-off at the heart of night-time CCTV, and most cameras force you to pick a side. Infrared cameras are discreet and record in greyscale. Full-colour cameras keep the colour but need a light running all night. Neither is wrong; both are compromises.
Dual light is the sensible answer to that trade-off, and it only works because the AI is good enough to trigger it. The camera stays dark on infrared until SMD 4.0 confirms a person or a vehicle, then lights the scene in warm white for the duration of that event. You end up with colour footage of the thing you actually care about — jacket colour, vehicle colour, faces — and no light pollution the rest of the night. The white light also functions as a passive deterrent: someone approaching a house who suddenly triggers a light tends to reconsider.
AcuPick is the other feature worth paying for, and it is easy to underrate until the day you need it. Every event is tagged by target type at capture, so on a compatible Dahua NVR you filter playback by human or vehicle instead of scrubbing through a night of recording. Anyone who has actually tried to find a two-minute incident in twelve hours of footage understands why that matters.
The rest is solid engineering: 6MP for crop headroom, AI SSA and 120 dB WDR for difficult light, 512 GB of edge storage, a microphone, and a housing rated well past Australian extremes. The ANZ designation confirms it is specified and supported for this market rather than grey imported. Total Security Equipment stocks it across our Melbourne and Sydney showrooms with compatible NVRs, junction boxes and brackets, trade accounts for installers, and local warranty handling.
Buyer Decision Tips
Ideal Use Cases
Home Driveways and Front Entries
This is the use case dual light was designed for. Mounted at eave height facing the driveway, the camera sits quietly on infrared all evening and only lights up when someone actually arrives — capturing vehicle colour, clothing and faces in full colour, while acting as a deterrent in the same moment. No permanent floodlight, no complaints from over the fence.
Retail Shopfronts and Entry Points
Retail generates constant footage and occasional incidents, which makes retrieval the real problem. AcuPick filtering means staff can pull the relevant clip for an insurance claim or police report in seconds rather than working through an archive. AI SSA and 120 dB WDR handle the bright-doorway contrast that ruins entry shots on lesser cameras.
Commercial Car Parks and Loading Docks
Tripwire and intrusion zones mapped to specific areas mean site managers get alerted when someone enters a restricted zone after hours, not every time a truck passes on the road. The warm white trigger provides colour capture of the vehicle or person involved at the moment they cross the line.
Exposed, Coastal and Extreme Sites
IP67 plus a −40°C to +60°C operating range and 95% humidity tolerance covers rooftop, coastal, tropical and inland conditions that shorten the life of lesser housings. If you have replaced cameras prematurely on a salt-exposed or high-UV site, the housing specification here is a meaningful part of the value.
Construction Sites and Temporary Deployments
Construction is a difficult environment for surveillance: dust, vibration, temperature swings, no fixed infrastructure, and high-value plant sitting unattended overnight. This camera handles all of it. Intrusion zones give targeted after-hours alerts on restricted areas, the warm white trigger captures colour identification of anyone entering, and 512 GB of edge storage means it can run standalone without a recorder on site at all. When the job finishes, it moves to the next one.
Choosing the Right Model
Choose the 2.8 mm if…
- You need wide coverage from a close mounting position.
- The area is broad rather than deep — a backyard, carport, courtyard, general perimeter or indoor floor.
- Covering the whole scene matters more than detail at the far end of it.
- 110° horizontal / 58° vertical suits the space.
Choose the 3.6 mm if…
- The area is deep rather than wide — a long driveway, gated entrance or street frontage.
- You want detail on faces and vehicles further from the camera.
- You are covering a defined approach path rather than an open area.
- 86° horizontal / 49° vertical suits the space.
Choose a different model if…
- You want continuous colour all night, not colour on detection. A WizColor or full-colour model keeps colour running regardless of whether an event is occurring.
- You need optical zoom or adjustable framing after mounting. This is a fixed lens — a motorised varifocal lets you frame on site and change it later.
- You need to cover a very large open area and follow subjects. A PTZ is the right tool for expansive car parks and industrial yards.
- The camera needs confirmed vandal resistance. This housing is IP67 weatherproof but carries no confirmed IK rating, so a certified vandal dome suits accessible public-facing positions better.
- You need two-way voice or an audio warning. Microphone only, no speaker — a TiOC model adds strobe and speaker for active deterrence.
- You need readable plates on moving vehicles. That is a dedicated ANPR job with specific lens, shutter and mounting requirements.
FAQs
How does the dual-light system work in practice?
In normal low-light conditions the camera runs infrared only, recording in monochrome and emitting no visible light. When SMD 4.0 confirms a human or vehicle in the scene, the warm white LEDs switch on and the footage becomes full colour for the duration of that event. Once the target leaves, it reverts to infrared. Both illuminators reach 30 m. The effect is colour evidence at the moments that have evidentiary value, without running a white light all night.
Is this the same as a WizColor camera?
No, and the distinction is worth understanding before you buy. A WizColor camera is built to produce colour footage continuously through the night. This dual-light model produces colour only during a detection event and sits on infrared the rest of the time. If you need an unbroken colour record of a space regardless of activity, choose WizColor. If you want colour of the people and vehicles that actually turn up, plus a light that acts as a deterrent, this is the better fit — and it will not annoy your neighbours.
Should I choose the 2.8 mm or the 3.6 mm lens?
Start from the shape of the area rather than its size. The 2.8 mm gives 110° horizontally and suits wide, shallow areas viewed from close range — backyards, carports, open perimeter, indoor spaces. The 3.6 mm gives 86° and concentrates the same resolution across a narrower field, which is what you want for a long driveway, a gate or a street frontage where detail further out matters. Because the lens is fixed, this is decided at order time, so tell us the site layout and we will advise.
What is AcuPick and do I need a Dahua NVR for it?
AcuPick tags recorded events by target type — human or vehicle — as they happen, so playback can be filtered rather than scrubbed. The tagging occurs at the camera regardless of what it is connected to, but the searchable playback interface is part of the NVR software and is fully supported only on compatible Dahua recorders. On a third-party NVR over ONVIF the camera records normally, but you lose the search function that makes the feature worthwhile.
How is SMD 4.0 different from ordinary motion detection?
Ordinary motion detection compares consecutive frames and triggers on any change — foliage, shadows, insects, headlight sweep. SMD 4.0 runs a deep-learning model that recognises the shape and movement signature of humans and vehicles specifically, and discards the rest before an alert is sent. On this camera it does double duty: it controls your notifications and it decides when the warm white light fires.
Can it record without an NVR?
Yes. It takes a microSD card up to 512 GB — double what most cameras in this class support — for continuous or event-triggered edge recording, and also supports FTP and NAS storage. That makes it genuinely viable as a standalone single-camera solution, or as a backup path so footage survives on the camera if the recorder fails or is stolen. Use a high-endurance card rated for continuous writing; standard consumer cards fail quickly under surveillance workloads.
What cabling and power does it need?
Standard 802.3af PoE over a single Cat5e or Cat6 run, carrying both power and data, at a maximum draw of roughly 9.5 W. That low consumption makes it easy to fit several onto a shared switch without hitting the power budget. 12 V DC is available where PoE is not practical. Use solid copper cable rather than copper-clad aluminium on longer runs — CCA is a common cause of intermittent PoE dropouts.
Does it support two-way audio?
No. The built-in microphone records ambient audio, but there is no speaker, so you cannot speak through the camera or trigger an audio warning. If active deterrence with a voice warning is what you want, look at Dahua's TiOC range, which combines strobe and speaker with the same AI detection.
Is it legal to record audio in Australia?
Surveillance device laws are set at state and territory level and they differ meaningfully. As a general principle, recording private conversations without any party's knowledge is restricted. Entrances, external perimeters, yards and commercial premises with clear signage are usually the appropriate places to enable audio. Check the legislation applying in your state — in Victoria this is the Surveillance Devices Act 1999 — before switching the microphone on, and seek legal advice where the site is shared or sensitive.
Will it cope with coastal or extreme Australian conditions?
Yes. IP67 means fully dust-tight and sealed against water immersion, and the operating range of −40°C to +60°C at up to 95% humidity covers rooftop heat, tropical humidity, coastal salt air and inland dust. The rating applies to the camera body, so seal the cable entry and use a weatherproof junction box for any termination — that join, not the housing, is where outdoor failures almost always start.
What does the ANZ model designation mean?
ANZ indicates the unit is specified and supplied for the Australian and New Zealand market, which matters for regulatory compliance, firmware, and warranty support. Grey-imported cameras carrying other regional designations can present firmware and warranty complications. Total Security Equipment supplies genuine ANZ stock with local warranty handling.
