How To Initialise Dahua Cameras
This guide will show you how to manually set up your new IP camera, whether it's a network camera or an analog camera.
What is Camera Initialization?
When you get a new IP camera, you need to initialize it before you can use it. This is like setting a password for the first time – the camera doesn't come with one by default.
Why is Initialization Important?
In the past, IP cameras had a default "admin" password that everyone knew. This made them easy for hackers to break into. Initializing the camera lets you create your own unique password to keep your camera secure.
TSE is Here to Help!
There are two ways to initialize your camera:
- Using a Recorder (Local): If you have a newer recorder with built-in PoE (Power over Ethernet), it might be able to initialize the camera for you automatically. This will copy the recorder's password to the camera.
- Using a PC (Manual): If you have an older recorder (before 2018) or want to set up multiple cameras on an external switch, you'll need to use a PC to manually initialize them.
Here's How to Initialize Your Camera Manually:
Step 1: Download Dahua Toolbox and launch the Config Tool. This software will help you manage your camera.
Step 2: Select the uninitialized camera and click "Initialize."
Step 3: Create a password and email address for the camera. Important: Don't forget your password! Write it down or use a password manager. TSE can help you come up with a memorable password.
Step 4: Optionally, enable Easy4IP and auto-check for updates. This allows remote access and keeps your camera's software up-to-date.
Step 5: Click "OK" to initialize the camera. You'll see a green tick when it's done.
Step 6: Now you should see your cameras has been configured successfully with the status: Initialized. Using this method (Config Tool) you can initialize multiple cameras at the same time. Simply tick all the cameras that need to be initialized and then follow the above steps one by one. |
